AFRICA ROBBED IN BRAOD DAYLIGHT: Watch out for China and Russia

Hello everyone,
I've watching the situation in Zimbabwe with keen interest and concern for our brothers and sisters suffering at the hands of a dictatorial leadership. Russia and China just vetoed a vote for sanctions against Zimbabwe and Mugabe. Russia and China are not interested in peace for Africans because they want our natural resources; plain and simple. Their economies are growing at a very fast pace, therefore, needing inexpensive resources and Africa has become the source for that. Supporting turmoil is a strategy to rob us blind. As long as we keep on fighting with each other it shifts our focus from developing and guarding our resources. Is our African leadership so blind and selfish?

Mugabe should be removed from power at all cost. He is nothing but an old colonial leader who is unfortunately showing his true colors. Where are the Kaundas and Mujomas as statesmen? Mandela spoke his mind but where is Mbeki's backbone? Our African union failed to act. What's their use if they cannot even protect Africa. I believe a change is coming and when it does every leader will be held accountable. China should stop fueling the war in Dafur and pay world prices for all the oil and minerals they are getting from Africa. They should succumb to the same investor policies that actually help Africa rather than rob her. Our current leaders may be old, selfish and blind but their is a brand of Leaders rising and they will deliver a new kind of leadership.

I just thought I should get that off my chest. Thanks for listening.

With the strength that the lord God gave me, I agree with you one hundred percent. Zimbabwe to be free, will take Zimbabweans themselves rising above and beyond the cries for freedom. As zambians we did it aganist Kaunda and prevailed. And yes! I said it against Kaunda. With prayer and outcry the rest of the continent must push Mugabe out, though in Unison free ourselves from mental slavery. These super powers must not overshadow us, we pushed Great Britain out, I think we can regulate trade easily. better still strike a balance with Checks and Balances; such as trading with America and other "G1" nations, whilst upping on local investment and education. Africa please awake, we cannot let anyone eat from the tops of our heats like birds on wild game. Thank you for the article, God be with you.

This might turn out to be another educated article(which it already is)coupled with highly enlightened comments; it has been a while. Well, you both contributed some wonderful propositions and valued change foundations. Mental freedom is to be first in africa, followed by the desisting from procrastinaton by Zambians. I in essence pray for Zambia, and new Leadership, with the continuity of some of the older leaders( for the hold wisdom); any other residues should be done away with like eighth grade enviromental science. Investment in farming, Zambia the next bread basket of the world as said by the unbaised mouth of the out-going British high commisioner to Zambia. De-centralisation of government, ministers should move to the provinces the oversee, such as governors in the USA. retraining of the police and government workers, and do not argue; if they can afford an S600 mercedes for a minister, the money is there. Also, the revamping of the Judiciary as an independent wing of the government. putting caps on prices for goods and commodities. Maybe we should as young Zambians go run for office and vote for shorter terms of office of our MP's plus the president; five years is too long for one term, four sounds good, but three is perfect(this is Africa we are dealing with). If it pleases any more that shall contribute, I have a lot more to type, but as of now I wait till a request is made. Blessings in Jesus's name.

Anonymous,
You are right but I think Zambia's problem has never been money though we have been led to think so. Zambia's problem has always been the lack of visionary leadership. Leaders come into office with programs and not visions hence every regime come with its own programs and destroys what has already been done instead of building on it.

I applaud Mwanawasa for thinking of a vision (vision 2030) although not perfect. I applaud the idea and not the content of it but its a step in the right direction. I am sure there are some things in there that can be used.
If out leaders came into office and talked about the Zambia they envision then we can hold them accountable to it and make sure that they are not spending money on vehicles and lavish lifestyles.

I also like your direction on on other issues such as decentralization of government and the independence of the judiciary. We should converse some more. If you are interested there is a Zambian political party on the rise that shares some of your views and you can check them out on the web. They are called The Citizens Democratic Party though I feel you've checked them out already.
God Bless and Live to Succeed!!

Thank you for the reply
Campbell Lumbila, it was one I was looking forward too. What do you think about younger people, for that matter even the wiser older ones being grafted into the already established parties and organisations. Remember this, "Evil prevailed while the wise slept."
I read that in the Bible a while ago. There is a saying where I am from that states that," there is more than one way to entrap an Elephant."
If in some way we could have the vigour of yesteryear when we Won democracy in 1990( This allowed for 1991), stopped Kaunda in 1996; complete trifecta on stopping Chiluba in 2001. That alertness in people would propel Zambia; how to invigorate them in non-election years is the thorn in a foot. before I depart, could you connect voices to these articles, lets say with folk residing in Europe(Ukzambians maybe). I do not apologise for being pushy, for it's innaction that halts our so termed motherland in all known aspects. Be blessed as Always.
